My story

Ozzie is a gorgeous pure breed Border Collie who was rescued from a high-intake public shelter after being found as a stray in highly-condensed city. This is not the type of town where Border Collie's are common, so it was a surprise when he showed up. He was a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter, and, received high marks for good behavior. Since he was rescued, we have learned so much about Ozzie! He is incredibly SMART, laser-focused on you and listens good, and he WANTS to PLEASE! This makes learning not only easy but FUN! He is very social, loves to cuddle and is very affectionate. Ozzie is in need of a new home due to no fault of his own. After being adopted/rescued from the shelter, his human suffered devastating medical news, and needs to focus on treatment options, surgery, and recovery - all of which will be an lengthy and extended process.

Like dogs of this breed, Ozzie needs room to run and play, and would love nothing more than to have a job or be a part of an active household. Love to hike? So does Ozzie! Love to run, jog (or even walk-trot?) Wow! So does Ozzie! Love to snuggle and watch a movie or take a nap? Amazing! So does Ozzie! . He walks great on a leash, is house trained, and crate trained. We want a successful, lifelong match between an Adopter and their new pet. We carefully evaluate each animal in our care and carefully screen each adopter to ensure there is a fit. We require any potential adopters to first complete an Adoption Application and go through a background, home, and reference check. All adopters are then required to sign an Adoption Agreement.

More about this rescue

We have designed and implemented a more proactive approach to rescue by working first to keep the dog in the home. We believe that begins with adopters knowing as much as they can about a dog's breed and characteristics before they adopt. We also provide unlimited, no cost support to families with the goal of creating a better relationship between the family and the dog, and help keep the dog in the home.
