Meet Raider is our heartthrob! Can he be any more precious?! VIDEO!
Meet Raider, a lovable mix with a heart full of adventure! This energetic explorer is always ready to sniff out new trails and embrace the world with enthusiasm.
Gentle and friendly, Raider gets along wonderfully with both people and dogs—he’s never met anything he didn’t want to befriend.
With his playful and curious nature, Raider will thrive in an active home where he can enjoy long walks, hikes, or outdoor playtime. After a bit of fun, he’s more than happy to unwind and cuddle up with his humans, making him the perfect balance of energy and affection.
?Raider is approximately 6y 2m 3d old and is fully grown at 48.5 pounds. He is microchipped and up to date on all age-appropriate medical care. His breed is unknown as we have not had a DNA test done but he resembles a coonhound.
Although our dogs are listed as unknown breed, buildings with specific dog restrictions typically enforce their rules based on what breeds a dog appears to resemble. It's always important to keep that in mind and know your building's policies before adopting a dog.
This dog is available for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue and RNR pets. If you're interested in adopting, the first thing you should do is begin the registration process at www.muddypawsrescue.org as they are the primary rescue helping place Raider in a happy home, but you can also do an app via RnR too. If you are already a registered adopter with Muddy Paws Rescue or RNR, please email us at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
The following information is the most recent update we have received from Raider's foster parent. We have made this information available directly on our website to help you, our adopters, learn more about Raider prior to inquiring about a meet & greet. Please read thoroughly before reaching out to us—this will help reduce the number of emails we receive every day and in turn, allow us to respond to the emails we do receive more quickly!
Please note that a dog's behavior often varies from one environment to another, and a decompression period in a new environment can last days to months.
If there is no information below, please continue checking back—we're working on getting the update from the foster parent!
General Personality: Raider is a playful and curious mix with a gentle, friendly nature. He loves making friends with people and other dogs, and his adventurous spirit shines on long walks, hikes, or playtime. Despite his energy, Raider enjoys quiet moments with his humans, curling up for cuddles after a day of fun. Whether exploring trails or relaxing at home, Raider’s loving and loyal personality makes him the perfect companion.
Daily Routine: We take Raider outside to the bathroom ever hour. He enjoys a long walk in the morning, a midday stroll, and another outing at night. Raider loves playing with his rope and sturdy chew toys, keeping himself entertained. He eats twice a day, morning and night.
Is the dog housebroken? No
House Training Progress: Raider is almost fully house-trained and does great when taken out regularly. If given consistent bathroom breaks, there are no issues. However, he has had occasional accidents in the house, especially if he’s not let outside on time. With a little more time and routine, he’s on his way to being 100% housebroken.
Behavior Around Dogs, Cats, or Kids: Raider is gentle and playful, quickly befriending other dogs and approaching all animals with curiosity.
Leash Behaviors: Raider is generally good on a leash and doesn’t bark during walks. He may pull a bit, especially when excited, but with a little guidance, he walks well and enjoys new scents.
Crate Rating When Left Alone: 2 - Appears to be taking well to crate training (may bark/cry initially when left alone but does settle within an hour)
Does the dog sleep through the night? Always
Other Quirks: N/a
What makes him/her happy? Pets, bone, walks, car rides
What makes him/her nervous or unhappy? N/a

More about this rescue
Welcome to Rock N' Rescue! We are a 501c3 cat rescue (and a few dogs!) based in Westchester County NY. Our goal is not only to save the lives of kittens and cats coming from high kill shelters, but to raise awareness of many issues concerning animal welfare. We also have a therapy cat program, providing special cats deemed gentle enough to be able to relieve stress for individuals suffering from illness, PTSD and other stress/trauma in their lives. All of our cats must go to an indoor only home and are not allowed to be declawed (unless they are rescued already declawed). Adopters are encouraged to post happy tales here too!
We also are happy to do custom searches if you are looking for a particular breed/mixed breed of cat or dog!
