My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lobito was brought in by a community member on December 28, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
If you're seeking a dog with enough energy to rival a triple espresso, look no further! Lobito is a vibrant, charismatic fellow who could power a small town with his zest for life. Couch potatoes, beware-this is not your guy. Lobito thrives on activity, adventure, and plenty of mental and physical challenges to keep his sharp mind engaged. He's a social ambassador, making fast friends with dogs of all sizes-small, large, and every pup in between-and he's even cool with cats! However, Lobito's thrill-seeking ways have landed him in a bit of a pickle. He's currently sporting a fractured front leg, which he got while finding his own fun. Don't worry, though-this setback hasn't dulled his spirit one bit. He's rocking a splint with plans to heal over the next 4-8 weeks, though surgical repair may be needed if things don't go as planned. Daily splint checks and short leash walks are part of his recovery regimen, and he'll need puzzle toys and brain games to channel his energy while he's sidelined. Recheck x-rays will be needed on/around 1/25/24. (Splint changes and x-rays can be performed at SDHS or with your regular veterinarian). Lobito is on the lookout for a partner who can match his enthusiasm and offer him the structure he needs to thrive. No backyard-alone entertainment for this guy-he'll simply take it as a challenge to find his own fun. Instead, he's hoping for someone who enjoys mental stimulation, creative playtime, and lots of love. If you're ready for the adventure (and splint maintenance), bring a leash and a martingale collar, and let Lobito be the spark that brightens your life!.

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
