Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hey there, I’m North, the feline compass who’ll always point you in the direction of love and laughter! If you’re looking for a cat who’s as cool as the Arctic breeze and as warm as a cozy winter night, you’ve found me. Let’s navigate through my world and see if I’m the purr-fect addition to your life.
I’m a big fan of taking life at my own pace. Whether I’m perched high like a mountain peak surveying my kingdom or curled up like a fluffy snowball on the couch, I bring a sense of calm and cool to every situation. I’ll admit, I have a knack for making people feel at home—something about my gentle purrs and calm demeanor has folks saying I’m their true north.
But don’t think I’m all chill and no thrill. Every now and then, I get a wild hair (or maybe a wild paw) and chase after toys or shadows like I’ve caught a case of the Northern Lights. It’s all about balance—one moment I’m a stoic explorer, and the next, I’m a playful adventurer chasing the mysteries of the living room.
What I really crave, though, is a cozy home base—a place where I can feel grounded while I map out my next snooze destination. I’m not just looking for any home; I’m looking for your home. A place where the food bowl is always full, the snuggles are plentiful, and the sunny spots are as golden as my personality.
Now, I might not be the loudest cat in the room, but that’s just because I believe in the power of subtle charm. One head bump or slow blink from me, and you’ll know you’ve got a friend for life. Trust me, I’ll melt your heart faster than snow in spring.
So, are you ready to head North and embark on a journey of love, naps, and whiskered wisdom? Adopt me, and together we’ll navigate life’s adventures—one paw at a time. Come on, let’s make some memories that are worth their weight in gold stars.

More about this shelter
The Animal Defense League was established in 1934 by a group of individuals, “for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to promote kind and humane treatment of animals; and to aid and assist the enforcement of laws enacted for the prevention of animal cruelty.”
In 1961, ADL moved to its present location in the easily accessible northeast part of San Antonio. Its campus encompasses more than 12 acres and includes a two-acre pet park. On the property is an Adoption Center with a small retail store, and a separate 5,000 square-foot Clinic which houses our veterinary hospital that provides onsite spay/neuter surgery, surgery for injured and ill animals, and ongoing medical care for all ADL resident animals.
