Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hello there, world! I’m Anaheim—yes, just like the city (or the pepper if you’re feeling spicy ???). But don’t worry, I’m more sweet than hot, with a personality that’ll warm your heart faster than a sunny California day.
If you’re looking for a cool cat who’s as versatile as a theme park itinerary, then look no further! I can go from lounging like a Hollywood starlet to zooming around the house like the fastest ride in town. My favorite pastime? People-watching. Whether you’re folding laundry, reading a book, or binge-watching your favorite shows, I’ll be there, quietly judging—or rather, lovingly supervising—with my soulful eyes.
Speaking of food, can we talk snacks? I’m the Anaheim pepper that craves treats, not heat! Wet food? Yes, please. A crunchy kibble topper? Oh, absolutely. I’ll follow you to the ends of the Earth—or at least the kitchen—for a nibble of something tasty. Just don’t try to share your spicy salsa with me—I’m more of a mild guacamole type.
I’m a bit of a dreamer, often gazing out the window like I’m auditioning for a music video. Maybe I’m imagining myself strolling down the boardwalk or lounging in a beachside cabana, but in reality, I’m happiest right here with you. I thrive on gentle pets and a peaceful environment—no dramatic plot twists, please. I like my life more “feel-good rom-com” than “action thriller.”
I’ll admit, I have a diva side. I prefer my naps uninterrupted and my sunbeam spots unoccupied. But once I trust you, I’ll share my whole heart. I’ll greet you with chirps, cuddle up when you least expect it, and bring a little West Coast chill to your busiest days.
So, are you ready to bring a little Anaheim magic into your life? Adopt me, and I promise I’ll make every day feel like a trip to paradise. Together, we’ll be the main attraction—no admission ticket required. Let’s make this a blockbuster ending, shall we?

More about this shelter
The Animal Defense League was established in 1934 by a group of individuals, “for the prevention of cruelty to animals; to promote kind and humane treatment of animals; and to aid and assist the enforcement of laws enacted for the prevention of animal cruelty.”
In 1961, ADL moved to its present location in the easily accessible northeast part of San Antonio. Its campus encompasses more than 12 acres and includes a two-acre pet park. On the property is an Adoption Center with a small retail store, and a separate 5,000 square-foot Clinic which houses our veterinary hospital that provides onsite spay/neuter surgery, surgery for injured and ill animals, and ongoing medical care for all ADL resident animals.
