My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rudy is vet-aged at 7 years old and believed to be a Bichon/Chihuahua mix. He has recently been shaved due to not being kept groomed, and he’s been brought up to date with vaccinations, deworming, is heartworm negative, and is being neutered 1/6/25. Rudy is smaller at 12.5 lbs, very sweet and loves people. He “army crawls” on his stomach for attention and loves belly rubs. His favorite place to sit is on top of the couch to watch the going-ons. Rudy will need some support finalizing house training in his new home. Rudy is a very calm and people-oriented guy who would love a home where he can spend a lot of time with his humans. Adoption fee $275. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to:

We are located in Western North Carolina, but we serve New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and additional areas with our transport. The adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, PVR or FVL-CP, Rabies, Flea, tick, ear mite and worm treatment before transport. All of our pets receive a health certification prior to transport. The transport is weekly. After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery.

We are located in Western North Carolina. All of our pets are housed with foster parents. You may visit our pets in North Carolina, but call ahead so that we can make them available to you. We serve Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and additional areas with our weekly transport.

Rutherford County Humane Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been serving Rutherford County since 1979, with the mission to significantly improve the lives of unwanted and neglected animals, and to measurably decrease this number through our spay and neuter programs, volunteer foster homes, and outreach and education. We are an independent organization that works in collaboration with other area animal advocacy groups. All of our efforts depend on our passionately compassionate volunteers, and financial support from the community.
