My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Echo ACCT-A-210212 is a 1-year-old female who came in as a stray on 12/31. The finder noted that Echo was “friendly, cuddly, quiet, playful, anxious around other animals.”

Behavior Notes:
01/03/2025 staff notes: Echo did so much better out of kennel today!! She was still very fearful when I leashed her, and bared teeth when I lassoed her. Once secured she came out but went running right back in, trembling. I used some leash pressure to pop her out and got her moving. She was very nervous walking through kennel and would sometimes stop and trash on the leash, but would continue forward with a little encouragement. When we got to eh room she was nervous, and ran under the table with her tail tucked. I offered some treats and she climbed into my lap eagerly to take them. She tolerated pets much better out of kennel, and did not hard stare and lip lick at me the entire time! She tolerated them, but did not really lean in. I discovered that Echo has a very playful side! She got so silly and goofy for some toys, but was quite snatchy with them! She even grabbed my jacket at one point thinking it was the toy! She got brave and climbed up on chairs and tried to climb up on the table to get some more treats! When it was time to return to kennel, she didn't even want to go back to her safe spot, she wanted to stay out and hang out more! I got her kennel clean and got her a nice comfy bed with some toys, and she gave me mid level wags and hopped on the door when I walked away.

01/03/2025 staff notes: ACA informed me that Echo gave them a lot of trouble when trying to clean her kennel and move her today. They said that she was very snappy with any kind of handling, and since she is in a top side bank, they had to handle her to remove her from kennel. They were able to get her out and into a bottom side bank, hoping that being lower will make her easier to remove from kennel.

Per staff 1/2: “Hung out with Echo for a bit to see how she’s doing. She looked absolutely terrified when I approached, so I offered some treats. Echo took them gently and watched me with semi hard, very wide eyes. I attempted to wrap her in a blanket to lift her out of kennel, but when I touched her side she whipped around and snapped, so I decided to just do some activity time in kennel. Echo continued to take treats slowly and gently, but was not a big fan of being touched. She tolerated some head pets but was stiff with whale eyes and lip licks. I decided not to push her and stuck to mainly giving treats and giving her baby talk. To her credit, her neighbor had just gotten out of surgery and was very loudly whining and crying, so this may have added to her stress. Poor Echo needs lots of time and patience to heal and come out of her shell.”

KNOWN HISTORY:

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Echo was in a top side bank and did not want to move or be picked up. I decided to leave her be as she seemed to just be very uncomfortable with me or in some pain. I did her eval as she was in the kennel. When I approached she gave me wide scared eyes and a tight mouth. She had a tense body and did not want to be touched as when i slowly put my hand in she hyper focused on it.
LEASH SKILLS

HANDLING :
In the kennel, Echo continued to have hard wide eye contact and was not a fan of me petting her. She let out a little low growl when I slightly touched her head so I offered her some treats. She took the treats gently from my hand, not moving from her laying down position still and when I attempted to pet her again, she got really tense and stopped eating. I stopped petting her and she would continue again. He was very upset every time I pet her and although she wasnt outgoingly reactive, I feel like if i pushed it she would have given me a correction. With more time, and patience, hopefully she will warm up further.
