********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required********

Meet puppy mill survivor, Cassie Blue!

Cassie's life before freedom was very difficult, and not kind to her. This has made her be a very fearful dog who requires a very patient, loving, and kind adopter who understands the needs of a very scared puppy mill dog and how to help her reach her full potential. Cassie does not adapt well to change, and will become fearful- this runs deep in her so even changing clothes makes her worry at first. This is where patience and understanding is pivotal for her new home.

Cassie has incredibly beautiful ice-blue eyes, and she loves other dogs. She finds difficulty with trusting humans because of what she has been through. Cassie requires a home that has a secure fenced in yard to help protect her and keep her safe. She loves to play with other dogs, and also has learned to love toys. Cassie is fearful of a leash, but her foster mom is working on this with her.

Given that Cassie had a lot to endure when she was trapped in a puppy mill, we prefer she is not crated. She sleeps wonderfully in bed with her foster mom each night, and needs the freedom to find herself and determine what she needs.

Do you have a quiet home, with another dog (preferred) who has time, love, energy, patience, and understanding to give to a dog who never knew love in her life before she was rescued? Please consider Cassie. Her foster mom is ready, willing, and able to work with any adopter to help set everyone up for success.

If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication

We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs.

All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption.

We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts.

You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/New2Urescue. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents.

We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit.

Additional adoption info

All our dogs are vetted prior to finalizing any adoption and we try to ensure the health of all dogs prior to placement. We do require reference check and home visit prior to any adoption to ensure the best match possible. Larger breed, high energy dogs will require a fenced in yard but that is not always required for our smaller dogs. We place dogs in the greater Rochester, NY area only at this time.
Please note, we do not accept invisible fencing and if fence is required it must be a physical fence. We also require all dogs over 8 mths of age to be spayed or neutered prior to considering any application.

Vetting includes (but is not limited to):
spay/neuter
microchip
age appropriate vaccinations

Heartworm test if age appropriate

More about this rescue

We are in Rochester, NY and adopt to homes in the Rochester NY area. Foster home based, no shelter.

Our mission is helping dogs that are homeless, in public shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia, or given up by owners due to inability to properly care for the animal.

All dogs brought into our rescue are placed in an approved foster home where they will receive love, training and any needed veterinary care. We remain committed to all dogs in our rescue after they are adopted by requiring that, should it not work out, dogs are returned to us and never given away or placed in a shelter. We strive for the right home for each of our dogs through meetings, reference checks and home visits. New 2 U Rescues mission is homes that will be for the life of every dog adopted out.
We also endeavor to work with other shelters, rescues, and humane organizations to help create a safe and caring network to help dogs in need. Our group is committed to the care of dogs in our rescue and community. We help through our foster program and education of those we work with or come into contact with.

We are a 501c3 registered rescue and Registered with NY State Dept of Agriculture Reg No. 33
