My name is Butters (special needs)!

Butters is a very special boy! He has a very loud purr and LOVES to snuggle with people. He is very outgoing, needs almost no time to acclimate to a new place, and bonds very quickly with people. He would make a purrrfect companion for a quiet household that is vigilent about his dietary needs.

Butters came to the shelter as a tiny orphan and was always great with other kittens until meal time. He was food agressive but it took us a while to figure out why. Butters' sweet little body has always had trouble processing nutrients, which means he was basically starving all the time, no matter how much food he got... until the Cat Angels vet gave him a supplement and a prescription diet that literally saved his life! 

He is still very food motivated, so the home he goes to has to be VERY careful to make sure he does not have access to food he is not allowed to have as it will make him very sick. His supplement and food are expensive (about $250/month) so Butters' needs a home that can afford his "high-end" diet. He is SO worth the money and with the right food, he is such a happy, healthy boy. He is not on any meds - he just needs his special food and he can live a normal life!

Butters does well with high-energy, unflappable young cats or dogs who like cats, but his dietary restrictions may make it tricky to feed unless everyone is fed separately. He would make a fantastic only cat and probably best for a quiet family with no children. As soon as you meet him you will fall in love and realize his precious life is worth every penny!!
