My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bobby is a very sweet boy! He is kennel trained at night and out with his fosters during the day. He loves their big dog and
they have so much fun playing. He's a bit scared of their cat but she's mean and rules the house. His foster taught him to sit and lay down by day four. He loves to cuddle and lays on his back, legs splayed out, not a nervous bone in his body. He walks really well on the leash and has been out for 4 mile walks. He's so happy, confident, loving. Even during a bath and (trying) to trim nails he has never snapped at them. He doesn't scarf down his food, leaves some in the bowl but likes treats. He basically is the perfect dog and will make someone very happy!

Adopt-A-Pet Events in the Kansas City Area

Cat adoptions are held at the PetSmart at 115th and Metcalf in Overland Park KS every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00. Cats available for adoption every day at PetSmart in-store cage area.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Olathe KS at 119th and Strang Line, every Saturday from 12:00 to 3:00.

Dog adoptions are held at the PetSmart in Lee's Summit MO at 920 NE Sam Walton Lane, also every Saturday from 12:00 and 3:00.

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs).
