My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello meet Chocolate! He is a 9 year old chihuahua/terrier mix. He has a traumatic past but has come out victorious. He is missing his lower jaw and his left eye. He is the most kind, gentle, and loving soul.

Chocolate loves company. He is great with adults, children/babies, dogs, and cats alike. He loves cuddling at night. He doesn't play with toys because he prefers cuddling up to watch a movie or read a book with you.

Chocolate does have separation anxiety. He will bark but will calm down after a few minutes. He also wears doggy diapers to prevent him from marking. He has only marked a few times since has been with his foster. This behavior may subside since he has recently been neutered.

Chocolate also has dry eye or KCS in his right eye. He will need life long medication for that eye.

Chocolate is an amazing dog and will be an amazing partner.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Whether you are interested in a specific dog or would like us to recommend a dog that fits you best, you can expect the following adoption process:

1. The first step in the adoption process is to complete an Application. http://rescueachi.com/adoption-application/ We will review your application and verify the information upon receiving it. If you rent your home, your landlord will be contacted for approval so it is important to make sure to include your landlord’s name and number on the application.

2. Once your application is approved, we will make arrangements for you to meet the dog in person. This interview is usually arranged by the dog’s foster family and may take place at your home or mutual location. We encourage everyone who lives in the household, especially children and other pets to meet and interact with the dog during this interview.

3. CRSD reserves the right to visit your home for an inspection during the adoption process.

4. Once you are approved, you will be asked to sign a legally binding Adoption Contract and pay an adoption fee.

Adoption Fees
Because we are an all-volunteer group, 100% of all adoption fees are used to cover medical expenses for the dogs in our rescue. Medical treatments include general health exams, dogs spay/neuter surgery, dental work, vaccinations, flea preventative medicals, microchip and microchip registration.

Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated, and this portion may be tax-deductible. Donations help us to continue to care for these special dogs.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue consisting of an all volunteer organization where all of our dogs are in private homes everyday. We do not have a shelter and our dogs are not kept in cages. Our dogs are from county animals shelters or from previous owners that are no longer able to care for their dog. All of our dogs are started on housebreaking, however, we do not guarantee that they will be housebroken. We offer education on how to housebreak a dog as well as other information on different situations. Every dog is spayed or neutered, current on shots, dewormed, frontline for fleas and ticks. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!!!
