Hi everyone! My name is Beatrice or some call me ‘Bea!’ Boy oh boy- do I have a story to tell.
I was surrendered to the Maricopa County Animal Shelter by my owner of almost 7 years. On her paperwork, she put the reason for surrender is ‘cost.’ The shelter called my foster mom and said ‘there is a severely obese bulldog here that is having a hard time getting around, could you come get her. Of course, Love-A-Bull to my rescue! 2 nice rescue volunteers showed up, and my chunky body started wiggling all over when I saw they were there for me! YAY! I almost sprinted out of there, and that’s not easy for a chunky gal like me!
I have been a jewel to have around. I am fully housetrained, don’t bark, love to nap and love to take walks. My foster mom is baffled at the fact that any person could get rid of me. You could not custom create a kinder, more gentle, well behaved dog. It’s just not possible! I love to sit next to you, and put my paw on your arm, and just stare at you. I am so amazingly sweet.
My previous family gave up on me after they fed me almost to death. The rescuers promise they are going to get me to lose at least 15 lbs, which will allow me to lead a very healthy life! Finally!! Someone who cares about me. I am eating Natural Balance Low-Calorie kibble, with a tad bit of fat free cottage cheese for flavor. YUM!
My name was Buttercup, but I don’t seem to like that name. I have a new name for the new chapter of my life.
**There will be more updates to come on me, since I am new and the rescuers are still getting to know me better. Keep checking back, and if you are in love with me already, submit your application for me! My foster family would be happy to chat with you!
*****UPDATE SEPT. 30th
Things are going SO well for me! I live with a male and female bulldog in my foster home, and LOVE it! If you have a dog who needs a lazy buddy, I am your gal! I am losing weight and feeling great, and ready for my adoption! After going to the vet for weekly weight ins, the vet has put me on a thyroid pill since I have a low thyroid. That's why I got so big so easily! The pills are about $8 a month only! I will HAVE to stay on these for the rest of my life. I will be in shape and looking great in no time! I am officially ready for an adoption!
Please note, my foster home will be choosing the best home for me! Be sure to read our adoption process and requirements, and don’t forget to submit your application.
My adoption donation will be $325.*****A home visit and reference check will be done to make sure I am going to the most perfect humans in the world!
You MUST fill out an application if you want to be considered for my home. NO inquiries will be returned without an application on file. We DO NOT adopt outside of Arizona, and we do not adopt to homes with more than 2 dogs.

Would you consider making a donation towards the rescue dog’s care?? Your donation will go towards their food, treats, toys and vet care. They will re-pay you with a personalized e-mail and big wet kiss!
*WHY ARE SOME DOG’S ADOPTION FEES HIGHER THAN OTHERS?
The adoption donation fees are based on age, health and needed vet care of the dogs we have taken in. The younger, healthier dogs help to pay for their cousins that need a little more TLC. You adoption donation fee also covers the cost of the spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip of your new dog.
*CAN WE COME SEE YOUR DOGS?
All of our dogs are in foster homes around the Phoenix area. We require an application to be filled out, a home check to be done, and vet reference check to be complete before having you come meet the dog of your dreams! We will ONLY contact you when we have a potential match.
*I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL DOGS WHO I THINK WOULD FIT MY HOME, BUT THEY ARE NOW ADOPTED. WHY?
We take a lot of time to get to know our dogs in rescue. Some are barkers, which cannot go into condos or apartments, some require companionship of other dogs, and some are not good with children. Each dog is unique!
*IS THERE A WAITING LIST OF APPROVED APPLICANTS?
YES! That is why even if you are not ready to adopt, get your application into us if you want to be considered for a future adoption.
*I AM LOOKING FOR A PUPPY OR VERY YOUNG BULLDOG.
Well, you have come to the wrong place. Rescue dogs on average are between 3 and 7 years old, we do not get puppies into rescue. We would, however, be able to refer you to a reputable breeder.
*BULLDOGS ARE SO EXPENSIVE! WHY?
If you are looking for a cheap bulldog by choosing rescue, need not apply! Rescue dogs are dogs that are going to need ongoing vet care, and a lot of love and training from their new humans. We only adopt to homes that truly want to RESCUE a homeless bulldog. This is not the place to find a “cheaper” bulldog.
*I HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE, AND HAVE CALLED A FEW TIMES, WITH NO RESPONSE.
We will contact you when we believe we have a dog that is a match.
Please remember: Not only are bulldogs adorable and cute, they are also high-maintenance and expensive! ☺
