My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Andy!  He is always happy!  Born around April 2024, Andy is an active, healthy Great Pyrenees pup ready for his forever home. He is beautiful, charming, silly, endearing…all the things!

He weighed 52 pounds at 8—9 months of age and has been gaining about 2 pounds a week.  We think he’ll remain on the small side when he’s all grown up, maybe landing at 75 pounds or so.

Andy loves people and wags his tail and whole body when meeting every person, child, and dog.  He loves children of all ages. He rarely jumps on people.

He must have a home with another large, playful dog that will play with him. He's not destructive but will get into mischief (like all puppies) if he has nothing to do. By keeping him occupied and showing him proper manners, this companion will help Andy continue growing into a sweet, lovable family member.

At this point he doesn't know the difference between dog toys and kid toys, shoes, clothes, and so on.  Like all young dogs he loves to explore his world and is discovering new things as he is growing bigger.

Andy has never growled or shown any type of aggression towards food, people, or dogs.  He has been to doggy daycare and has done well.

He loves having his gorgeous, long wavy coat brushed and doesn't mind his nails being trimmed.

It's hard to take pictures of him, because the minute you look at him or call his name he comes right up to you.

He loves his toys, especially ones that make a crunchy or squeaky noise.  He also appreciates an empty water bottle or yogurt container that he can flatten for recycling.  He loves when people play ball with him; he even taught himself to bring it back to have it thrown again.

He loves having a yard where he and his doggy friends can play and lounge.  He has never tried escaping the yard at his foster home. He is even more happy to lounge in the house with his humans.  He is too active for apartment living.

Andy has not been around cats or pets besides dogs.  We can test him with small animals if needed.

He likes any kind of dog bed.  He is very smart and will train you to give him treats.  He could definitely be trained to do a variety of tricks of his own.

Andy is quiet and rarely barks. He is leash trained with a collar or harness.  He is crate trained. Most nights he puts himself to bed.

He needs a little booty boost to get in the car, and that will probably improve over time.  Once in, he sits on the seat nicely.

Andy’s early puppyhood was rough!  He came to us via a local animal shelter after being found as a stray when he was only 12 weeks old.  He was tiny, malnourished, and fighting hookworms. He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment and surgery for other complications.  He did great and had no further issues.

Weeks later after being neutered, he developed pneumonia.  He was hospitalized once again and was given IV fluids, oxygen, and antibiotics.  He is now fully recovered and quite healthy. What a series of challenges he has had!

Andy is ready to enchant a loving, caring forever family of his own.

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
