Hi Everybody! I’m Kalmin, or Max, as my foster mom likes to call me! I’m a very sweet boy that enjoys cuddles and attention and I have the most beautiful, speckled, soft fur! I’m believed to be a dogo argentino/cattle dog mix but all I know is I’m a 100% good boy! The cattle dog in me is shining through as I’m eager to work and am focusing so hard on house and crate training with some tricks sprinkled in for fun.
I’m very smart and quick to learn new things such as sit, spot, crate and touch. Potty training is going well and I do best when kept on a schedule. I like to go out about every hour during the day when I’m out of the crate and so far I can go 4ish hours in my crate during the daytime when my foster parents are out of the house. I’m sleeping well through the night in my crate in the living room and I get so excited to see my foster mom in the morning! I struggle a little bit in the crate when my parents leave or take my foster brother for a walk. It’s not very fun to be alone but I usually settle into a nap within 5 minutes. My foster mom has been giving me lots of special treats in my crate lately so maybe it’s not such a bad place after all.
I’m still a puppy and learning so much everyday! I respond well to redirection and a gentle “no” or “leave it” command. I’ve been a little nervous when I’m outside in the big world as my foster home is in a busy neighborhood but I get lots of reassurance on walks, and in the back yard, which helps me feel better. Speaking of walks I’m not really sure what they’re all about but there is so much stuff to smell! I do like to chew on things as I’ve been teething a lot recently and anything is fair game as a chew toy in my opinion!
I also live with 2 cats and am very interested in them and can get a little more excited than they enjoy. My foster mom keeps a close eye on me when the cats are around just to make sure everyone is having a good time.
I do love to play with my foster brother Tank! He’s a medium sized, medium energy dog and sometimes I need reminders to leave him alone as I would wrestle every chance I get with him! And my neighbors dogs seem like a lot of fun and I like to try to get them to play through the fence. It’s so much fun to have a fenced in yard to get my zoomies out in!
I think I’m the right fit for a home that will be patient with me as I continue learning and that will exercise both my mind and body everyday. I settle into the evening and night really well if I’ve had proper mental and physical exercise throughout the day. I sure hope to meet my forever family soon!
