My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Star!

Star is ready to shine in her forever home! Born on August 30, 2012, Star came to us from a heartbreaking hoarding and neglect situation, where she and 69 other dogs were rescued. Now, after receiving the care she deserves, Star is spayed, fully vetted, and eager to find her loving family.

Star has had a full dental and is feeling much better! She will need to eat wet food, as hard kibble is difficult for her to chew. Though she’s a bit older, don’t let that fool you—Star is still spry and active and enjoys staying engaged.

As a dog who’s still learning to enjoy life as a pet after her troubled past, Star will need a patient and understanding family. She’s looking for a home where she can get the time and attention she deserves to continue learning and growing. Star would thrive in a home with other dogs her size and older children who can respect her space and understand that she’s still adjusting.

Star is currently in a foster home with other pets and is doing wonderfully. If you think you can offer Star the loving, patient home she deserves, apply today at eastshoreha.org. Once your application is processed and approved, our staff will reach out to schedule a personal meet-and-greet with Star.

Don’t wait to make Star part of your family—apply today!

Additional adoption info

Before You Adopt: Please consider these factors before filling out an application:

1. Animals are expensive to care for. They require food, shelter, toys, grooming, and veterinary health and dental care.

2. Animals require attention. You have to clean up after their messes, protect them from anything that might harm them, and make sure they get adequate play time and exercise. Some require training, which takes patience, love, and commitment.

Adopting a Friend: Adopter will fill out an application to start the adoption process. We don't adopt on a first come, first served basis, but instead adopt based on what we feel is in the animal's best interest. We DO NOT ship animals.

Adoption Requirements:

1. Have verifiable identification

2. Be at least 18 years of age

3. If renting, have landlords consent to bring a pet to your home

4. All adopted pets must be spayed or neutered

5. All pets must leave the shelter on a collar and leash, or in a pet carrier

6. Agree to all terms of the adoption contract; ESHA reserves the right to deny any application
