Lily (along with her sister who was adopted) was dumped at my place of work around Thanksgiving 2024 in East Houston. I brought her to my house and have gotten her spayed and vaccinated. My husband and I are unable to give her the attention she deserves because we travel a lot for work. She loves people and wants to be a 24/7 lap dog. Since she is not a big dog, she can fit nicely on your lap or beside you. She loves to hug.
Lily gets along with other dogs, and she is slowly getting used to my 2 cats. She thinks my cats are other puppies and wants to play. We are teaching her to stay calm around them. We are currently potty and crate training her. She is still learning to go to the door for potty time. When we are home to supervise, we allow her to freely roam. We leave her crate open all day so she can go in and out as she pleases. She will put herself in the crate during the day if she wants to take a nap and seems to like it in there.
When we are away, she stays in our fenced backyard with access to the garage so she can go in and out. She does sometimes bark and howl when she is left alone at first, but she is getting better every day. At night, she stays in a closed crate in our living room. She has not had any accidents in her crate at night. We have been trying to be consistent with her bedtime. When we let her out in the morning, we immediately take her outside to go potty. We have also taught her how to sit. We are working on not jumping up as she is still a puppy and just gets excited when we get home. She is learning many things very quickly and will continue to learn more.
Lily would do best with someone who has time for her and can give her the attention she deserves.
