My name is Sassy!

I am 1 of 14 pups that were recently dumped on a rural dirt road with temperatures in the twenties. We were so scared, but thankfully all safely recovered!

Given my recent and traumatic history, I am very shy and timid at first. I need time to warm up, realize you are good people and feel safe. I likely will be nervous and avoidant when first meeting, but crawling in your lap before you know it.

– Did well with kids met aged 7+
– MAJOR lap baby!

– Absolutely *NO BIG DOGS* in my forever home. I do not like dogs bigger than me at all.
– Cat compatibility unknown
– Dumped with a dozen other small sized dogs whom I am friends with, but I have not met any other small dogs whom I do not already know. Slow and proper intros would be needed to integrate into a new small dog pack

Joy’s Promise is a promise to keep fighting for those like Joy. The discarded, unwanted, abused and neglected. It won’t always look like Joy, a pregnant mama facing euthanasia. It might be a pittie sitting animal control for months, years unwanted. It might be a boxer mix from a terrible hoarding case. It might be an owner surrender that lost everything they have ever known. It might be a box of puppies who were tossed without the slightest remorse. Joy’s Promise is a promise for Joy’s death to not be in vain, but a catalyst for more lives saved.

Joy’s Promise Canine Rescue is a registered nonprofit corporation and an actively licensed GDA animal shelter. We are a foster-based organization in the process of filing 501c3 paperwork.
