Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Vetting: Up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and on preventatives.
House trained: Yes
Crate trained: No. Buckley does not like the crate and howls/shines and eliminates in it when left. But he is good alone in the house without issue so we leave him out.
Dogs: Good with docile, non-dominant males. Unsure about females. Buckley likes other dogs and wants to play with them, but he also wants to be the boss. We have a very docile, older male dog who he is fine with. Buckley has not been around female dogs, so I am not sure if he would feel less "bossy" with a female.
Cats: Unknown, but can be tested upon request.
Children: Buckley is great with people of all ages.
Energy level: Buckley is low-medium energy. He is very happy to lounge around the house and LOVES a couch or a bed. He also loves walks and I think he would be happy to do more walking than he currently is, but it's not necessary as he is happy playing with his humans in the house too.
History/Before FAR: Little is known of Buckley's history. Buckley was found as a stray in late 2022 and was taken to the county shelter at Macon-Bibb. It was clear from xrays that Buckley had sustained fairly serious injuries to his back leg and hip, which were not treated but had healed before he was taken to the shelter. Buckley was rescued by FAR in March of 2023 but due to issues with his foster's availability Buckley was kenneled for almost a year before his foster was able to take him, where he has been ever since.
Training Status/Commands: Buckley knows basic commands (sit, stay). He is very quick to learn and eager to please.
Working on: Buckley is still working on just about everything in his foster home.
Things I like: Buckley loves walks, belly rubs, beds, treats of all kinds, and human companionship.
Things I don't like: Buckley does not like dogs who are off leash when he is not, and he will bark and whine at them. Buckley does not like crates (but that might be fixable with a larger crate - due to Buckley's leg injury he stretches out when he sleeps and a normal sized crate restricts his ability to sleep in the funny way he often does).
Things that make my humans happy: Buckley is very funny, playful, and is a snuggle bug. He has no qualms with looking you deep in the eyes when getting belly rubs and pets, and you can just feel his happiness. When he really wants to play, he hangs his mouth waaaaay open, dips his head, sways back and forth, and staring you right in the eyes blinking. He is just trying anything to tempt you into playing with him, which works every time as it is so darn cute!
Ideal family/home: Buckley loves people, and while he can be left alone he greatly prefers the company of humans. Buckley also loves other dogs and wants to play with them. Due to his dominant tendencies (which admittedly are infrequent and can definitely be worked on), he would be best with a very non-dominant dog companion. And of course, like most dogs, Buckley would love a large fenced yard.
Extras/Special Notes: Buckley walks with a "limp" due to his prior hip/leg injury not being treated when it occurred and healing incorrectly. Due to the incorrect healing of the leg when the injury occurred, his back leg is about 2 inches shorter than his other legs, creating what looks like a limp when he walks. Due to the failure of his hip to heal correctly, he also sits in an odd position. If he does a LOT of exercise, he can be a bit sore for a day. But for the most part, other than a funny walk and a strange "sitting" position, Buckley's old injuries have not hindered him as Buckley can run and jump like a deer. Buckley has not shown any interest in digging under our fence to escape or climbing over it, but he is able to jump over a 4.5 foot interior gate I was using for segregating him from one of the other dogs with relative ease (more indication his leg/hip are fine).

Our adoption process starts with the potential adopter filling out an adoption application. In the application, you can specify a particular dog in which you are interested, or let us know what type of pet in which you are looking, so we can find the perfect animal to fit your family and your needs. Once the application is received, a board member will review the application, and make contact with the potential adopter within 48 hours. This initial contact may include further questions/more information, or may include scheduling a meet and greet for you to meet the animal in which you are interested! Once the application is approved or the meet and greet goes well, then the adoption can be finalized. To finalize the adoption, an adoption agreement must be completed, the adoption fee paid (we accept cash, paypal, or credit/debit card), and then the potential adopter can take their new family member home with them or schedule pick up of their furry family member! The adoption fee varies based on the dog or puppy you are interested in. Some of the adoption fees have been listed on the individual dog's description but if you do not see one then please reach out and we would be happy to talk to you about it! If you are interested in any of our animals, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!!
