Meet Curly! Curly's foster describes him as a happy dog who loves snuggles and affection.

Curly is originally from Tennessee. He was found in a field as a tiny newborn pup with his mom and siblings. He’s now being fostered in Etobicoke and is ready for his forever home.

He loves attention and will remind you to keep petting him by putting a hand on your leg. Once he’s comfortable with you, he will even give you hugs. He is such a gentle boy and will thrive in the right home. He loves car rides, and barely sheds. This guy will make a great best friend!

Although he is very friendly and attentive with those he knows well, he is not yet comfortable around men. He is making progress here. Curly is able to understand which people are known to his foster, and is more trusting of them.

Once he knows you, Curly is very loving and is a great companion.

Curly doesn’t do well with a lot of noise or chaos around him, so a family with kids may not be the best match. He would prefer an adult-only home, or one with older, dog-savvy teenagers.

A fenced in yard or lots of space are not required to keep this boy happy. All he asks for is to be taken out 4-5 times daily to do his business. He would prefer a home that is more quiet than lively, outside of the city centre.

His foster believes that with time and proper intros, Curly would do well with other dogs. That being said, he is currently wary of some dogs and prefers those with a calm energy. While he hasn’t met any cats in our care, it is also believed that with proper intros he would do well in a house with resident cats.

He currently gets 4-5 walks per day. 3 of them are around an hour, and the other(s), around 30 minutes. His foster describes him as a 3 out of 10 on the energy scale.

Curly walks well on a leash as long as he’s in a quieter area. He is very food motivated and is learning his basic commands quickly. He will need ongoing assistance when it comes to being comfortable around men. He doesn’t have much experience with them but is becoming more and more comfortable. When it comes to potty training, Curly has not had any accidents in the house. He is also crate trained and does very well with this.

Curly has not been left alone often, or for more than a few hours. When he is left alone, he is usually crated and will calmly await his foster’s return. His foster has left him free reign for shorter periods with no issues at all.

As a condition of the adoption contract, Curly’s new family will be required to:
- Ensure he has an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full time,
this means hiring a dog walker to come in 2x per day for a puppy visit
- Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required)
- Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's important at this
stage
- Spay/neuter within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the
spay/neuter will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will
be done at your own cost. Proof of neuter is required to finalize the adoption.

Additional adoption info

To adopt one of our dogs, please fill out an application at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form. Although we do our best to reply to all inquiries within 72 hours, please remember we are a volunteer-run organization. We appreciate your patience.

If we think your application has potential to be a good fit, a Fetch + Releash volunteer will contact you to set up a time to speak over the phone and conduct the home visit. In addition to the phone interview and home visit, we also require personal, veterinarian, and landlord reference if applicable.

After the phone interview, home visit & reference check, you will then be granted a private meet and greet with the dog.

After the meet and greet, the adoption committee will then review your completed application and make a final decision.

More about this rescue

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
