Meet Doug: Your New Best Friend!
Doug is a lovable and affectionate pup who has mastered the art of making everyone he meets feel special. Whether he’s gazing up at you with his soulful eyes, snuggling in your lap, or showing off his easy going jogging skills, Doug is all about building a connection.
Doug walks well on a leash, is easy to redirect when he gets excited, and knows how to sit for treats (which he takes ever so gently!). He’s great with pets and snuggles and even throws himself into your lap for extra love. Doug is curious about other dogs and enjoys playtime. He will thrive in a home that can continue to so him love in abundance and guide him through his playful moments.
Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Come meet this sweet boy at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him.

1/2/25 volunteer notes: met Doug for the first time today. He was sitting so politely on his bed making eyes at me as if to say “hey girl, let’s go for a walk”
Doug was easy to leash and he walked well through the kennels. I stopped to talk to another vol and he waited so patiently before heading out the door. Doug relieved himself outside right away. As we walked off campus we picked our speed up a little to a jog and he stayed right by my side. Together we ran a little more than a mile and he was an easy going gentleman the whole time. Back at the shelter we spent a little time cuddling and sharing treats. Doug is a total softie!
1/2/25 volunteer notes: Doug is a super sweet boy who just wants to cuddle. He can get a little jumpy, but is easily redirected. Will sit for treats!
1/1/25 volunteer notes: Doug is my baby. Doug was easy to get in and out of his kennel. Doug walked pretty well on leash, pulling at times. Doug loves pets and snuggles. He can be a bit jumpy. He takes treats gently. Doug had a few dog meets that mostly went well. Doug seems very interested in other dogs. Doug did attempt to hump December. In the play yard, doug enjoyed getting some sniffs in. Doug knows sit! Doug also randomly threw himself into my lap for some sweet snuggles.

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Doug
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Doug was laying down on the backside for cleaning and came up to the door when I called for him. He had soft eyes and a wagging tail and hopped onto the door for leash. I was able to get him down and he was easily secured.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally – when people approached him, he would get tense and huff towards theme, backing up.
Once the staff member gave hm space and he approached her, he was more loose and social.
HANDLIN :
In the room, Doug was very loose and friendly. He jumped right up onto me when he entered the room and solicited for pets. He was a bit anxious and if I wasn't paying direct attention to him, I would go around the room pacing and displacement sniffing. He allowed all handling but was a bit sensitive around his head and side when it was consistent. In small spurts he did not mind it but the more I pet him in one spot the more he got still and wanted to move away. He is very tolerant of me and my handling. He sat patiently for treats and took them nicely.
PLAY:
Interest
TOYS:
Minimal interest – got anxious quickly
12/31/24 finder noted that Doug is “very good with people” and “friendly”
