My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Queenie appreciates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

My foster writes: Despite her name, Queenie doesn't want a lot of fancy things to make her happy -- she's perfectly content with a warm bed, some wet food, and your time and attention for playing with cat wands and other toys. Maybe a lap to sit on once a while, but really, that's not too much to ask.
Queenie is affectionate and playful. Even when she first arrived in our home, we were able to tempt her out of hiding by waving a cat wand, which she immediately leapt at! She enjoys playtime, but is also okay amusing herself with little mouse toys. She's curious at times, and part of her daily routine includes looking out the window and making sure all the squirrels and birds are behaving themselves. She's very smart and considerate as well; she never wakes us up during the pre-dawn hours for breakfast, but as soon as we walk into the kitchen for our coffee, she would sit primly next to her bowl so that we would remember that she needs her breakfast too.
She's okay with other cats, but I think Queenie will prefer to be an only cat if possible.

A volunteer writes: Queenie's as gracious as she is comfy cozy. She's so comfy and cozy that I initially wasn't sure if Queenie wanted a visitor, but I thought I'd introduce myself anyway. This was the right move because though she looked so content in her box bed with her blankets draped in every direction, she welcomed me with happy cheek rubs and a soft gentle purr. Queenie is sweet, cuddly, and very playful (puffing out her cheeks just like a tiny kitten) but didn't race out of her bed to say hello, maybe because she isn't entirely sure what to make of the Care Center. Her previous family described Queenie as friendly and outgoing with people and explained, "She is a bit timid but allows you to do anything." It kind of breaks my heart just a tiny bit to see this extraordinarily trusting and eager to please kitty sitting in her box, but we all know that age is just a number and she'll truly shine when she meets you.
