My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello my name is Journey. I am an Australian Shepherd mix. I am a lovable companion and looking for a new home.

Quick facts:
* Male, neutered
* 9 years old
* 55 pounds
* House trained
* Good with owners, adults
* Fully vaccinated
* Healthy

I have been a loyal dog to my owners since being rescued eight years ago in Raleigh, NC. At first, I was a great companion to my single owner. Then, when my owner became married, I enjoyed the new relationship. A few weeks ago, a new baby was born and now things are too busy here, so I am currently staying with my grandparents.

I enjoy being a great companion. I can be rather independent too. You might find me sitting next to you on the sofa, or more often than not you may find that I am resting in a quiet place of the house for a long nap. I do like to go outside a couple times a day. I like to play once in a while by pulling on a rope toy.

I don’t like loud noises - such as thunderstorms - or strange sounds. I am not comfortable around other dogs and cats.

I answer to most commands and I come when called. I go by Journey, Jay, or J-Dog.

I hope you will consider me as your future companion.

Additional adoption info

Our process is not too detailed but we want to make sure the furbaby will be taken care of. We are not a first come, first served rescue, however, we also will not require the adopter to jump through tons of hoops to adopt either.

More about this rescue

Happy Tails Animal Sanctuary aims to be the forever home for animals we take in. However, due to the volume of homeless pets, we do operate on a rescue basis as well. We pull from kill shelters, have the pet altered and evaluated and try to place the pet in a forever home. If the sanctuary is the best fit for the pet, then it will stay here. However, not all animals do well in a multianimal household.
