My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Twix, a girl as sweet as her name suggests! Twix was found running in traffic and picked up by a good Samaritan. Since getting to the shelter she has shown that she loves treats and is a very well-mannered girl! She takes treats gently, knows basic commands, and has polite manners when receiving cuddles. Her future owner is very lucky!

Twix is now available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. You can meet her any day from 10am-6pm. Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org.

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 1/2/25: Twix was lying on her bed when I approached. When she realized I was there she calmly got up and allowed me to leash on the first try. Walking outside she was very interested in sniffing the other dogs kennels. She walks well on leash with some minimal pulling. Very treat motivated and handler oriented! She knows sit and takes treats very gently. She’s great at catching them too! She met another dog through the fence and had a hard stare and tense body language with one growl, but got more loose as that dog sniffed grass around us. When they walked by again she didn’t react and was fine smelling calmly through the fence. Didn’t try a full meet since dog coughed a few times but seems she needs slow intros

On 1/1/25 volunteer noted: "Twix might be a little shy in her kennel, but she's very easy to walk and was really easygoing in the yard. She sniffed around lots, and seemed really interested in the other dogs who passed by. She had slight hackles raised, and was very interested in meeting one of the male staff members (and whined thru fence) walking a dog. She also appreciated some pets especially if I crouched down to her."

Per Staff 12/31/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:

KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Twix was on her bed with wide eyes and was alert barking. The handler crouched down and she came forward to sniff the handler and did a few more barks. She stood calmly by the door and allowed the handler to just loop her with the leash and exit easily.

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally

HANDLING:
In the room Twix was calm and easy to handle. She had neutral body language, soft wide eyes and approached both of us. She was food motivated and took treats gently, showing knowledge of sit, shake, and down! She was very patient and well mannered. She allowed all over handling without any issues and would sit beside us while being pet but did not overly lean in.

PLAY:
No interest

TOYS:
Interest but no possession

COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS:
Gold
