Banjo is a fluffy 38lb shepherd mix who is estimated to be six years old. He’s sweet, cuddly, and affectionate. Banjo is a low-to-moderate energy guy who loves to lay around the house on his favorite chair. He loves a good walk and walks well on a leash. His current routine involves a walk approximately every other day. He loves to be pet and brushed and will burrow his head into you for affection if you sit on the floor. He’s not a huge toy guy but will chase balls inside and out when the mood strikes. Banjo has never been crate trained but is comfortable with being restricted from area of the home with baby gates.
Banjo can be a little excitable at times, but is incredibly food motivated and with repetition is a good learner. He’s friendly to houseguests of all ages. Banjo is happy to just be nearby wherever people are. He’s a goofball who brings joy to those who know him.
Banjo is looking for a new home due to resource guarding behaviors. We’ve been working on resource guarding with him since we rescued him and he’s made significant improvement. However, it’s become clear that these behaviors are not compatible with living in a home with small children. We think a home without children or with older children (10+) would be suitable for him.
Banjo currently lives with another dog and gets along with known dogs well. He exhibits occasional resource guarding behaviors towards his housemate dog and therefore we’d recommend a home without other dogs. Banjo hasn’t interacted much with cats and has a prey drive, so a home without cats is recommended as well.
