My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, it’s nice to meet you! My name is Alicia and I’m estimated to be a 1-year-old Catahoula leopard dog mix. I weigh 39 pounds. I have the same name as my foster mom so my foster parents call me Aurora. I was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and boy am I happy to be free! My foster parents say I’m just about the sweetest girl ever. I love meeting new people and giving them kisses. I’m gentle and affectionate. I haven’t met any kids in my foster home but I’m sure I’d love a human kiddo to play with! Sometimes I jump up to give hugs so you would need to watch me with littles, that way I don’t accidentally knock them over. I have met many dogs and loved them all! I currently live with a 60lb and a 70lb dog. I like to play for short bursts and can entertain myself if my furry friends aren’t feeling active. I’ve had a small amount of exposure to cats and did just fine with them. My foster parents are impressed with my training so far! I do great in the kennel during the day and at night, giving only a few small whines when I want out. If I'm in the kennel for longer periods, I might bark for a few minutes, so shared walls might not be best for me right now. My foster family will work with me on this! At night, I sometimes get to sleep on the bed, which I love because that means cuddles! I’ve had a few accidents in the house but I’m getting better as I settle into a routine. In a new home, my family should expect me to have some accidents at first. With the cold weather, my foster parents haven’t gotten to see me on leash much, but they think I’d do just fine on walks. In new environments, I’m not always sure what I’m allowed to chew on, so my foster parents keep an eye on me. If they see me chewing on something I shouldn’t be, they’ll redirect me to a toy. I’m figuring it out and getting better every day! If you give me a stuffed animal, I will happily chew on that instead. I really am a beautiful, kind, loving dog and I can’t wait to find my forever home!
