My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet pup seeking fresh start and love!

RENNA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:     Renna          Best Guess for Breed:  Terrier mix

Best Guess for Age:   7 weeks as of 12/30/2024         SEX:    Female

Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):   2.5 lbs as of 12/30/24 - she's likely undersized right now because of her medical condition.

Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.

Currently Living at:   Coming soon to a foster home in the DC area!

Special Adoption Considerations:       Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.

Renna is Looking For:   Mighty Renna is looking for her forever family - for humans who love life as much as she does. This sweet baby had a congenital heart defect called a persistent right aortic arch, which strangled her esophagus and made it impossible for her to swallow food when she arrived into our care. She has so much will to live, is such a fighter, that we have been able to stabilize her by feeding her mostly liquid food and keeping her upright after eating. That is not gonna work forever, though, and now she has been scheduled for surgery in the DC area on Thursday, January 9.

Now, what is Renna looking for? She wants an easy and full recovery, natch, but she's also looking ahead to the rest of her life. And what does she see there? Lots of snuggles, lots of play time, and more cuddles. Being safe and loved and a cherished part of her family. Getting to go to dog school so she can show how super smart she is. Exploring her neighborhood, making pup pals in the local parks - and seeing the world by her humans' side. Basically - loving and being loved, being a loyal companion for all her days. What do you say? Will she be yours?

What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this after she has recovered from her surgery!

Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.

Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered.  As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than May 8, 2025. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.

Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!

TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
