Ivy is a 5 month old Shih Tzu x Miniature Schnauzer mix who can’t wait to fall in love with you! Ivy was rescued from the shelter with a few of her fluffy pals. She was covered in dirty, matted fur that was calling for a major transformation. We scooped her up, whisked her to the groomer, and a few hours later a whole new dog emerged from a pile of hair! Ivy weighs 8.4 pounds and we expect she will be in the 11-12 pound range when she is fully grown. She has a non-shedding coat and is an option for homes with allergies. If you’re ready for an amazing new buddy, adopt Ivy!

Ivy is a fun loving, silly, and fabulous puppy who can’t wait to make her mark on the world! She is a playful gal who adores her piles of fluffy toys, throwing herself into her daily task of making modern art with the stuffing. The day she figured out fetch was one of the happiest days of her life so far, as she races back and forth across the yard with a wagging tail and a huge smile on her face. She’s a great companion for someone who works from home, as she can keep herself occupied while you have meetings but is also always ready for a cuddle during a break. Especially if that break means treats for her! She is the perfect puppy mix of playful and laid back. When you want to go on an adventure, she’s ready to strap on her puppy backpack and hit the trails for a day of memories. When you return home, she’ll help pop the popcorn for a cuddle on the couch as long as you promise her belly rubs! Ivy currently sleeps in a crate but we know she would be thrilled to curl up in bed with you and be the sweetest little weighted blanket ever! Ivy also has gazelle-like legs and leaps gracefully after her toys. She’s just perfect!

Ivy starts her day at 8 AM with a trip into the yard for potty before she eats her breakfast in the kitchen. Once she goes out again, she settles into her fluffy dog bed with her toys for some chew time as her foster mom gets her workday started. She gets lots of attention during the day, going out every hour to practice going potty. In the afternoon, she gets some fetch time followed by additional belly rubs on the couch. She goes on an afternoon walk and then has dinner at 6 PM. In the evening, she cuddles and watches TV until bed.

Ivy gets along fabulously with dogs of all ages and sizes. She loves her humans and is very cuddly. She is making progress on her potty training and walks well on a leash. Interested homes should be prepared to continue training and socialization, as her foster humans have given her a fantastic base. She will require regular grooming. If you’re ready for a playful pal, adopt Ivy!

Ivy is only an option for homes who have owned a dog of their own previously. Kids should be over the age of 8

More about this rescue

We are passionate folks who love dogs and love people! We strive to make the most appropriate match between human and canine. Because our dogs live in foster homes we know about their temperament and personality and therefore can help families and individuals decide if the dog is a good match or not. We are excited to help people find the right pooch for them and look forward to meeting great folks and welcoming them into the DPS Family.
