My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please note: Henry is currently in a temporary foster home and not at the shelter. From his foster dad:

Happy New Year!

I`m Henry. I am celebrating the new year with a foster family looking to start 2025 in a new permanent home. My Birthday is in January, I`d like nothing more than to be settled for my birthday, I made my birthday wish already, it`s for a family of course, so help it come true.

My foster family has taken me shopping at Lowes, we went up and down every aisle, all were accident free. I was well behaved, no barking and I put a smile on everyone`s face as I passed by.

I have a lab mix foster sister; she is helping me learn the ropes. I am still working on my potty training skills, I do not love all treats, it`s true, but I am not a picky eater. I have a lot of energy; I love all chew and or squeak toys. I give many hugs; kisses and I love attention. I do jump and get excited so an energetic family would be great. When my family comes home, I get really excited, and I am always happy to see them. I am tan and have distinct white markings, deep brown eyes and I am beagle and bulldog. My tail is docked. I love to be outside, sniff, explore smell and trot around. I enjoy picture windows and looking outside, I bark occasionally my foster sister is teaching me about barking. I am good in the car, I enjoy sightseeing. New sounds like the garage door going up or the vacuum can spook me. I do love attention; lets me you`ll see in person just how friendly I am. Come to PAS, meet me and help me celebrate my first birthday!

“The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth will ever be.”
Konrad Lorenz
Zoologist

Please remember when adopting a pet:
First 3 days: Initial decompression, getting used to the new surroundings and people.

Next 3 weeks: Learning routines and building bonds with the family.

First 3 months: Full integration into the household, feeling comfortable and secure.

Thanks,
Henry

Additional adoption info

At Parma Animal Shelter, we do not adopt our animals out as gifts or surprises. We believe that adopting a pet is a significant commitment and should be a well-considered decision. Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse any adoption to ensure the best match for both the animal and the adopter.

All of our animals are microchipped, tested for disease, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and internal parasites, and given lots of loving care during their stay with us. We are dedicated to meeting their medical needs and do our best to socialize them.

If you have questions about any of our cats, please feel free to email us at catadoptions@parmashelter.org. Our volunteers are more than happy to provide information about their personalities and any recommendations for the best home environment possible for each individual animal.

To start the adoption process, you can submit an application by visiting our website parmashelter.org. For cats, please use the following link: https://form.jotform.com/223634976258165. For dogs, questions can be directed to dogadoptions@parmashelter.org, and applications can be submitted here: https://form.jotform.com/230706749163055.

As a small, no time-limits shelter, we are proud to operate entirely through the efforts of our passionate volunteers. We do not receive any public funding, which makes the support of our community all the more vital in helping us provide loving care to the animals we shelter.

Throughout the year, we organize various fundraisers to support our mission, and we maintain a wish list of needed items on our website. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our loyal supporters, whose contributions make a significant impact in the lives of so many animals.
