Star von Schwaan is an adorable, 7-8 month-old Dobie mix. This sweet and loving girl is bursting with personality! Star is outgoing and friendly with everyone she meets, making her a fantastic addition to any family. She'd be great for a multi-dog household as she's wonderful with other dogs, and even passed cat testing. Star is a happy-go-lucky pup who enjoys a good ear scratch and loves to play. With moderate energy levels, she enjoys going for walks and exploring the world. She's already learned to "sit" and take treats gently and is eager to please. Star enjoys the company of other dogs and encourages them to join in the fun. This social butterfly is ready to find her forever home and shower her new family with love and affection.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
