Meet Canela (also known as Merryweather), a beautiful and playful female dog with a heart full of love. Her sweet spirit shines through in everything she does, always eager to be near her humans. She’s the kind of dog that will happily follow you around, seeking affection and showering you with unwavering loyalty in return.
Canela’s playful nature means she’s always ready for a game or a fun adventure. Whether it’s chasing after toys or just running around in the yard, she loves to stay active and will offer endless snuggles when she tires. She’s had plenty of time around other dogs from being paired with her sister, other fosters, and dogs on walks. Any dog would love to have her as a new sibling. She’s also great with cats, making her the perfect addition to any home with other pets.
A great family dog all around! Did we mention she loves kids? She is crate trained, potty trained, and on a schedule. She alerts you when she needs go out. She knows all her basic commands, is trained on release words, and eager to learn more! We love taking her with us wherever we go. Canela loves car rides especially with someone in the back seat to give her pets.
Canela is naturally protective and will bark to alert you that someone is near the home but will retreat once her person tells here there isn’t a threat. She is still working on her manners when it comes to greeting her humans, she loves to jump to show you how excited she is to see you! But is doing very well on training to redirect that instinct.
If you're looking for a companion who will fill your life with love and affection, Canela is the one. She thrives on being close to her family, and she’s sure to bring joy and warmth to any household lucky enough to welcome her.
Est DOB 6/12/24
Adoption fee is $350 and includes: all vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and spay/neuter (and a lifetime of love and companionship)

More about this rescue
Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit organization; obtained our 501(c)3 in 2011 - ID #27-0810495
Located in Anza, CA
Kathy Haley had originally started as a rescue for abused and neglected large animals such as donkeys, llamas, alpacas, pigs, and more. At the time, she was also a volunteer at a dog rescue. After learning about the importance of rescue work, Kathy saw an opportunity to help by employing her own ideas about animal welfare, rescue and care taking the "whole animal," mind, body and spirit into consideration. A few years later, she met Lisa Ashe. Kathy and Lisa had so many ideas, dreams, and goals in common. They instantly clicked and that was when Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit organization, was born in 2011 and have been going strong since.
At Hope Ranch Animal Sanctuary, we are dedicated to taking in abused, neglected, and euthanasia listed animals that deserve a second chance and need us the most.
All of our animals are:
Spayed/Neutered
Current on all vaccines
Rabies Vaccinated
Dewormed
Micro-chipped (lifetime registered & paid)
Received all proper medical care when needed (surgeries, dentals, medications, grooming, etc)
While many of our animals are sanctuary or "permanent residents", we do have lots of adoptable pets who are patiently waiting for their forever homes.
We are unique in the fact that our dogs do not live in kennels; instead they live with us in our home on about 5 acres of property located in Anza, CA or they are in foster homes in and around the Temecula, CA area. They have full access to our home and property and sleep inside with us at night.
This ensures that our pets are well adjusted and perfectly suited to become a part of your family.
Because the sanctuary is also our home, we do not have regular public visiting hours but we do have many visitors.
We just have to arrange it to fit the schedule of our animals, ourselves, and you.
