Meet Cosmo (dark grey, male) and Wanda (yellow/lt. grey female), bonded cockatiels who’ve been together since birth, approximately 2.5 years ago.
Cosmo is the more vocal member of the duo, singing and whistling throughout the day,
while Wanda occasionally chirps.
Although they’re happy being inside their house, Cosmo’s singing will get louder and more frequent when he wants out.
If Cosmo is blocking Wanda from the food bowl though, she’ll screech at him until he moves off.
Once Cosmo and Wanda are out, they’re content to stay on top of their house.
They’re fully flighted but aren’t prone to flying around unless startled by a loud noise. I
f this happens, Cosmo will find his way back home, but sometimes Wanda needs to be led back.
She’ll eventually “step up” and let herself be taken back home.
Wanda has been known to lay eggs in the past, but so far this hasn’t happened
while she’s been in foster care.
Wanda and Cosmo enjoy a healthy pellet diet but haven’t shown any interest in fresh fruits or vegetables
just yet.
The Foster Mom gives them a millet treat at night which they seem to like.
They also get covered at night, usually around dusk - Cosmo will begin to get restless otherwise.
Cosmo and Wanda are being fostered in Manahawkin, NJ.
We do not ship our adoptable birds.
For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.
As our adoptable birds are living in volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.
