My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spice is a sweet and affectionate girl who finds comfort leaning into her friends for pets. Though she’s not too interested in playing just yet, she does enjoy the occasional chase after them, showing glimpses of her playful side.

Spice can feel stressed in new environments, however, with time and patience, she starts to relax and soften. Her willingness to connect shows her potential to bond deeply with someone who offers her the stability and care she craves.

If you can offer a calm, loving environment, Spice will reward you with her sweet and loyal friendship. Are you ready to help this gentle girl feel at home?

Eligible for rescue and adoption. Meet Spice at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Behavior notes:
1/4/25 volunteer notes: Took spice out again today. She was startled when approached her kennel and barked a few times but I won her over with treats quickly. Easy to leash and she was excited to go outside. This girl loves walks and exercise!!

1/1/25 volunteer noted: Spice was a very sweet girl, who liked to stay close to her handler and lean in for some pets. She does pull a little on the slip lead which made her cough, so using her harness is likely best! In the yard she wasn't super interested in playing with toys, but did chase after a few.

12/31/2024 staff noted:
BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:

KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray

KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Spice was at the front of kennel with hard wide eye contact. She continued to stand at the front and allowed for the handler to leash her without issue and exited without issue. No issues returning

LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls moderately, reactive on leash

HANDLING:
In the room Spice was stressed and was panting heavily and pacing for the first few minutes. She was a bit tense at first and was very escape focused, but as time went on she began to warm up a bit more and soften in her body language. She allowed all over handling without issue and was tolerant to all petting but remained very stressed and exit focused while out today. Too stressed to take treats as well.

PLAY:
No interest

TOYS:
No interest

12/30/24 volunteer notes: Spice was a dream to walk!
She left her kennel nicely. Seemed excited for a walk like they are used to them as exercise. She keeps a good pace and checks in with toy . She took a long pee ( had been holding it) and poop. She had no interest in tag/chase and Acknowledged toys but no real interest. Same with treats, she sniffed but did not take .
Behavior note- Evaluated and made gold for a little fear. I think she could be reevaluated if she’s still here in a few days to see if she opens up some to be green. No concerns.
