My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Waya!

Waya is a sweet, petite 35 lb. Husky or Shepherd mix (we're guessing) who's currently being fostered in Colorado. Summit Dog Rescue learned of her and is stepping in to help her find a great forever home.

Because of something that may have happened in her past, Waya tends to be a bit fearful around new situations. We expect that with a stable and loving home environment and supportive training she'll soon begin to relax and have fun.

Super bonus: Waya is great with cats! She'll need a yard to play in, and we think she'd love a home in the mountains -- or at least adopters who can take her there quite often so she can spread her Husky wings and be the mountain girl she was born to be.

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Waya, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.

Additional adoption info

First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.

We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
