We took August in as a stray found abandoned and starving in Shelby, NC. We wanted to give her a safe space to gain weight, socialize with other dogs and we also wanted to get her medical records up-to-date and have her spayed. We are happy to report that she is a happy, healthy girl, who is spayed, crate trained and house broken. We would love to keep her, but we have an older alpha female GSD who has not accepted August into the pack and it’s causing us to keep them separated. August is a sweet petite girl (only about 50 lbs) and loves our other dogs and plays well with them. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle! She is also gentle with our outdoor cats, but is admittedly a little too obsessed with them for their liking. August is VERY shy and reactive when meeting new people or animals and at first comes off as scary with a very big bark. However, she will warm right up to you after some time and lots of treats. Food is this girl’s love language. She definitely needs a home who can handle and train her reactive behaviors and a home with pets that don’t mind an affectionate yet very energetic young female. Would be happy to provide any more details!
