Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Chewy is looking for a loving home to start off the new year. Chewy is a 2-year-old male golden retriever/heeler mix that currently weighs 48 pounds. His DOB is August 2022. Chewy came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own. Chewy has lived with 3 cats and did well. While he did not live with another dog, Chewy has done well with other dogs. As always, a meet and greet must be done with any resident canine. Chewy is not used to the hustle and bustle of the shelter and is missing the home life. He will need time to get to know you. Food and treats help. The previous owner reports that Chewy is crate trained. He is also house trained but please remember, going to a new home can be stressful and bathroom accidents do happen. Chewy exhibits food aggression, he will growl. However, if he is fed in a separate room, all is well. Chewy is very smart and knows several commands such as sit, roll over (sometimes spins in circles), leave it, and stay. He enjoys taking walks, running, playing with toys, and car rides. This active boy would do well in a low traffic home with older children. Chewy is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and a microchip. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Chewy. His adoption fee is $160.

Additional adoption info
At Parma Animal Shelter, we do not adopt our animals out as gifts or surprises. We believe that adopting a pet is a significant commitment and should be a well-considered decision. Therefore, we reserve the right to refuse any adoption to ensure the best match for both the animal and the adopter.
All of our animals are microchipped, tested for disease, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and internal parasites, and given lots of loving care during their stay with us. We are dedicated to meeting their medical needs and do our best to socialize them.
If you have questions about any of our cats, please feel free to email us at catadoptions@parmashelter.org. Our volunteers are more than happy to provide information about their personalities and any recommendations for the best home environment possible for each individual animal.
To start the adoption process, you can submit an application by visiting our website parmashelter.org. For cats, please use the following link: https://form.jotform.com/223634976258165.
