Meet Gus!!! Gus is a charming 9-year-old classic Basset with plenty of pep in his step. Gus adores playing with toys (he even knows some by name!) and enjoys play sessions with the dog and cat in his foster home. He’s always up for a quick game of fetch, walks around the neighborhood, or an adventure in the car. He will also happily settle in for a snuggle or nap with his family.
Fully house-trained, he can use the dog door or will let his family know when he needs to go outside. He has some separation anxiety (barking and whining) so would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day. If you work from home, Gus will be your loyal coworker. He is not fit for an apartment, condo, or townhome life. A social and fun-loving guy, Gus makes fast friends with everyone he meets, including kids. However, due to his sturdy “tank-like” nature, he’d do best in a home with school-age children or older to avoid accidentally knocking little ones over. . The estimate on the dog’s age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup.
