Rocket Raccoon is a handsome 2-year old male kitty who was brought to the HSOV on November 30, 2024 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Echo Valley Road in the Waterford Ohio area.
This big boy was limping on his left hind leg and in need of medical attention. Our HSOV staff/kennel techs examined Rocket when they were doing his intake procedures and discovered a puncture wound on his left back paw which could possibly have been caused by a raccoon (or dog) bite .. Hence the name Rocket Raccoon.
Rocket Raccoon has a sleek black short smooth coat, a long tail, and a beautiful chubby face with large golden eyes, a black velvet nose, and long black whiskers.
Rocket Raccoon was given wormer and flea treatment on November 30, 2024. He was given vaccinations on December 3, 2024 and weighed 8.1 lbs that day.
Rocket was examined by one of our wonderful local veterinarians on December 5th. His paw wound was cleaned/shaved, and he was given an antibiotic shot, a pain shot, and rabies vaccine. The veterinarian/staff believed Rocket may have been in a cat fight rather than an encounter with a raccoon.
Rocket Raccoon was given booster vaccines on December 17, 2024. He weighed 9.4 lbs that day.
These photos of Rocket were taken on December 21, 2024 while he explored our studio. This big guy has a friendly, outgoing personality. He wasn't too keen about sitting/posing for pictures, so we let him "do his own thing" and snapped photos while he was enjoying out-of-cage time.
Rocket Raccoon had briefly shared a double-wide cage with another HSOV kitty (Tabasco), and they were quite compatible. Tabasco was adopted on December 22, 2024 so Rocket is now 'the lone ranger'.
Since nobody call or came looking for Rocket Raccoon, he will be neutered (tentatively in late January 2025) and will be looking for a fabulous home.
