NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
NEW INTAKE 12/27/2024: Marietta - female - DOB 9/21/2024 - 18.8 pounds - Australian Shepherd
Reason for intake: We were contacted about taking in this girl. She was born to two merle Aussie's, making her a double merle. We were told it was an accident litter (the male is now neutered) and they didn't know merles should not be bred together. Offspring have a 25% chance having sight and hearing issues and other defects. Anyway, two were born with significant hearing and sight issues and they are going to a specialized rescue. We took in Marietta. We read up and found a good article about double merles you might want to read: https://animalguardian.org/downside-double-merles/ In the case of Marietta, she was born normal with no sight or hearing limitations. She's as sweet as she can be! She does fine in a kennel and we are working HARD on the leash training because she knows zip, nada, zilch on leash. LOL. She'll need to go through two rounds of vaccinations, two weeks apart and be spayed, etc., before she'll be ready for adoption so stay tuned!
NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS: Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed. Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining. In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason. We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption. In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered. Please note… we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption. Please wait until the dog is available for adoption. We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.416768288349589&type=3 OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Be responsible ~ Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life. Blessings.
