My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bambi is Coming Soon!

Bambi is a young female dog with a heart of gold and her foster calls her a wild ball of crazy happiness! She is an affectionate and playful dog with a fun-loving personality that will instantly win over your heart. Bambi may be a little too playful and funny for her own good - she's been known to make everyone smile with her silly antics. She is full of energy and excitement, and she's ready to bring that kind of joy into your home. Although Bambi has a lot of love to give, she is a pet with medical needs, she has Cerebellar Hypoplasia, (CH) so she will require a dog-savvy adopter. She's a friendly girl who's always up for a good snuggle and some belly rubs, but because of her energy levels, she'll need a home that knows when she is getting overstimulated and needs to take a break. Bambi is dog and cat fearless, so having a very mellow, easy-natured dog and cat is important to make that friendship work. Overall, Bambi is a fun-loving, affectionate, and happy dog who would be a perfect addition to an active household that can give her lots of love, care, and attention. Bambi’s only medical needs are love, patience, understanding. Limited access to stairs, no pools, and non-slip rugs throughout if floors are slick, she will love a long happy life otherwise! If you think you might be the right fit for Bambi, please come and meet her today - you'll fall in love with her charming and hilarious personality! We know she's waiting just for you!" We hope this helps Bambi find her forever home!

If you are interested in her, please send an email to SCP at address scpdogworld@gmail.com! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required before this dog goes to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and treated for fleas.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters must complete an application and SCP volunteers can help adopters identify cats and dogs that will fit best in their homes. SCP adoption counselors review the applications, conduct in-person interviews and discuss pet care responsibilities with potential adopters. SCP checks applicants' vet references and may conduct a home visit at its discretion. So that the best interests of the pet are served, SCP reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone. The adoption fee starts at $110 for cats ($175 for two cats), $190 for dogs and $245 for puppies.

SCP tries to ensure that all pets are healthy at the time of adoption. All are examined by veterinarians when they enter the program. All are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, de-wormed, tested/treated for parasites and disease (such as heartworms, fleas, feline leukemia and FIV) as needed. Cats are vaccinated for FVRCP and FeLV. Dogs are vaccinated for DHLPP and Corona virus. Animals are kept in foster homes to minimize exposure to disease and to help them be well-adjusted. It is the policy of SCP that no cat or dog may be sent to a permanent home before it is fully vetted, including spay or neuter. All of our rescued animals are microchipped.

Go meet their pets

SCP does not have a shelter or an office location. The rescued pets, volunteers, fosters, and adopters who comprise SCP come from all over the Galveston Bay area (mainly north Galveston and south Harris counties). Our adoptable animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.

SCP has cats and dogs available for adoption every Saturday (cats 10:30-2:30 and dogs 11:00-2:00) at the Petco store in Clear Lake (2410 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058 - corner of Bay Area and Space Center). A few cats may also be seen during the week in the condos at this Petco location.
