Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gertie’s journey has not been an easy one. Losing her owner has made her a bit shy and slow to acclimate to new environments. However, with time and patience, this affectionate kitty is ready to share her love with a new family. Despite the challenges she’s faced, Gertie remains curious about her surroundings and is eager to find a place where she can feel safe and loved once again.

Gertie's affectionate nature is one of her most endearing qualities. She loves to curl up next to you for some quality cuddle time and will purr happily whenever she feels your warm touch. Her curious spirit means she enjoys exploring her surroundings, keeping her entertained for hours. Imagine coming home to a sweet, loving cat that greets you with gentle headbutts and soft purring—Gertie could be that companion for you!

Gertie has a condition called Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex which made her lip look the way it does. Her adopter will be provided her steroid medication in case of a flare up.Her condition is currently dormant.

For Pet's Sake Rescue is a Mississippi based rescue. ***ALL ANIMALS ARE CURRENTLY IN MISSISSIPPI.*** We transport adopted animals every 2-3 weeks to Northeast states.

Adoption fees include transport, vetting and a MS Health Certificate to travel. Each pet is spayed/neutered, receives age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, microchipped and flea/tick prevention.

For Pet's Sake Rescue wants to insure that every animal goes to a forever home that can provide their every need including future medical care should they ever need it. For this reason, we ask each person interested in adopting to complete an application. The application requests information about the potential family including their home and occupants, as well as requests a vet references. If you do not have a vet reference, please contact us directly at adoptions@forpetssakerescue.org. During Covid-19 our home visits are changed to a video chat to insure safety of the animal.

We reserve the right to refuse an adoption. Most often times we know these animals on a personal level and can foresee it not being a good match for them though there are times when we have to refuse an adoption if there is a lack of comfort with the party.

Required: Completed application, photo ID with current address or an article of mail going to your current address in your name, and home video chat. We do not waive this process for anyone.

Adoption fees can be paid after you are given an approval. Invoices are emailed via PayPal. The deposit or transport fee holds your pet. Adoption fees are not refundable if you change your mind. Please be sure!

For Pet's Sake Rescue is currently based in Long Beach, Mississippi.

This rescue specializes in feline rescues though occasionally take in miniature pigs and canines. Our goal is to provide strays and abused animals a safe haven to heal, become adoptable, and get a true chance at the life they deserve.

Our rescue focuses in healing animals and teaching them pet-like behaviors during their time with us. We spend time with each furbaby individually to learn their personality and make sure they are matched with the right family.
