Akeh is a very sweet, goofy boy who is looking for a patient, loving household that can provide support and guidance as he becomes more confident and settles into a new environment and routine. He enjoys going for walks and is working on his leash manners. He is very treat motivated and needs someone willing to work on basic obedience with positive reinforcement. He seems to be more confident and energetic indoors right now and loves kongs and heavy duty toys and bones. He is very good about sharing toys! In his previous foster we were told he chewed on bones for long periods of time and we are expecting he will do so again with time. We think Akeh could be ok in a household as an only dog but also could thrive with a dog similar in size to match his play style. His energy level is primarily moderate but he can have periods of high energy when wanting to play and getting the zoomies. His current bouts of energy can be a little much for our 2 resident dogs right now because it seems as though he doesn't realize how big he is and just wants to interact. Best in a home with no small children due to this. Not cat tested, but was exposed to a few kittens at Petsmart – showed no prey drive, just sniffing through kennel curiosity. Akeh does extremely well in the car and the kennel. We use the kennel at nights and a fews days a week when at work. He has been a little anxious getting used to a new place so we do use his kennel every now and then to help him decompress when he needs to shutdown for a few minutes. When using the kennel for this purpose he will let you know when he is ready to come out and can be vocal when he wants to be. He really is a very sweet guy and doesn't have a mean bone in his body!
