My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Silver bells
🎵Salisbury sidewalks, busy playyards , dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Puppies playing,
people walking , meeting smile after smile
And by every kennel door you may hear....
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time at the Humane Society.
Ring a ling, hear them bark
Soon it will be adoption Day!🎵
Silver bells, silver bells
Oh we hope to get you a home by Christmas!
This delightful gal will sweep you away in a snowstorm of fun and happiness. Known as Silva to her close friends, she has charmed her way into many hearts since prancing in the doors. The echos of "who doesn't come for this girl" resonates thru the kennel as the staff and volunteers ponder why owners didn't reclaim their lost doggy.
Here are the highlights:

🔔Beautiful coat, striking markings. Healthy appearance.
🔔Pawfect size -36 pounds
🔔Fun loving personality 🐾Easy to handle and
A joy to be around.
Enjoys her frequent walks. Daily exercise will be music to her ears!
🔔Basic training:
✅sit
✅good leash walking skills.
✅polite manners, takes treats well.
🐈‍⬛🟢⚠️ nervous around cats. Will back away and go to ground when the hissing starts.
🐶🟢 Ok with dogs. Playful. Meet and greets required to determine sibling compatibility.
🟢🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Great with people.
Silva would thrive in an active household. She likes being around people, and would enjoy playing and hikes and anything the family is doing she will want to do too!
Come and grab this lyrical little pal before we ring in the new year!

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. We verify all information on the adoption application and may deny an application with any false information on it. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
