My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 4 years old
Weight: 5.5kg / 12.1lb

Meet Julius, a strong-willed guy who’s ready to share his opinions with you! He came to the shelter through no fault of his own and has been a little stressed, but don’t let that fool you—he’s warming up quickly. At first, Julius may greet you with a hiss or a growl, but once he knows you’re not a threat, he’ll show you his true personality. He’s already started settling in our Call Centre, where he loves to perch high in his catio, keeping an eye on the action below.

Julius is a domestic medium hair, which means his glorious floof will need regular grooming—brush him with a soft slicker brush to avoid matting and make it a relaxing bonding experience. Julius is also on a gradual weight loss plan to get back to his most fabulous self. With patience and love, this opinionated but snuggly guy will make a great companion. If you’re ready to chat with a charming conversationalist, Julius might be the one for you!

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
