Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I'm an extroverted guy who loves attention and being petted. I'm good at the groomers and have my basic obedience cues down. What's not to love about me?
If it were up to me, I'd snuggle up to my foster family all day every day, or go on an adventure with my foster mom and/or brothers often. I love car rides. I've learned to be quiet during the day at my foster mom's feet while she works. I used to get sad and anxious when she left, but I've become very familiar with going into my crate while she's gone or snuggling up on the couch until she returns. She also bought me a snuggle puppy stuffed animal that has a 'heartbeat' and I've loved curling up with it in my crate. It's really helped me settle in quickly in my crate! I'm so glad to have that now! She also crates me at night when she goes to bed. My foster mom has tried to give me the best chance at being the best boy for my next home. Aside from getting me vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, she also had me stay for two weeks with a local dog trainer to sharpen my behavior skills and try to socialize me. I absolutely love my pack at home, and could thrive with other dogs in a house! Recently, I developed some noise sensitivity but it may have been due to stress.
DOGS: I sometimes react to dogs on leashes and behind fences as I pass them, but I've been working really hard over the last month on my training and am getting better about ignoring them and not being as afraid they might pop out from the fence. I prefer my small pack at home over neighborhoods that are crowded and saturated with other dogs (like apartment complexes) until I am appropriately introduced and given time to learn to play with familiar dogs. CATS: I tried to meet a cat once since being with my foster mom, but wasn't given ample time and boundaries to get familiar with the cat. If a family is interested in me that has a cat, I'll need time to warm up to it and proper introduction methods to see how I might do. CHICKENS: At first when we'd pass by a street-facing chicken coop in my neighborhood, I would bark at them. My foster mom takes me by it daily now, and I've majorly improved my demeanor in front of them and my fears are subsiding daily! HORSES: My foster mom has brought me to a barn that houses horses, and introduced me to them while being on leash. I really wasn't interested in them and didn't react as I do with dogs while being on leash. When we ran out in the field where horses were being ridden, I was WAY more interested in a ball and my foster mom.
While I haven't been exposed to children in the time I've been with my foster mom, it might be best if children in the house were slightly older (8+). Sometimes I get really excited about toys, and I'm still learning the 'drop it' cue. A late grade school, middle schooler, and high schooler might better understand to be patient and not forcefully grab it from me.
I love wrestling with one of my foster brothers and snuggling as close as the other foster brother will let me get to them. My favorite activity has been going to a field and retrieving a thrown ball over and over again. Inside the house, I love playing fetch, but I also love playing keep away with my foster mom. I love making her chase me to get the ball back. It's so much fun! Really any dog toy will get me excited if my new family is willing to throw it for me!
My ideal home would be one with a patient person or family who will love me unconditionally. I adore my foster mom, and would love to find the same type of person to be my furever home who I can snuggle up to on the couch, who will throw a ball or toy for me, and bring me along on their adventures and car rides! I could do well as an only dog or with a pack. I love going for walks. If my next home has a fence around the yard or farm land, I'd love to spend time in the yard with them as they do yard work or play with me. I have a lot of love to give, and am ready to have a place in my furever home.
