Mickey is appropriately 7-8 years old Yorkie. A few months ago, he was unfortunately hit by a car, and the owners relinquished him to animal control in hopes he would find a rescue that would provide him with the necessary medical care he needed to recover. After a massive surgery by a specialized surgeon, his pelvic area was pieced back together. His foster mom took the best care of him during this time and has done amazing work with him to help rehabilitate.
Mickey craves attention like any Yorkie. He loves sharing a favorite chair or sofa and snuggles. He is great with people, but he isn’t kid tested. Because he is still unsteady on his feet and will be healing and strengthening for a while, homes need to not have young children or rambunctious dogs, because he could easily be trampled and injured. Short walks and an easy, cozy life is what this pup needs for his future.
He loves toys and to play tug. Mickey is sensitive to unknown sounds and will bark at them. Unknown sounds could be a whistling teapot, sandhill cranes, gun shots (he is being fostered in the country), etc. He has a big voice for such a small fellow, so no attached style living for him.
Mickey gets along well with other small dogs, playing with them, sharing his bed and their companionship. Cats are not a good fit for Mickey's future home, because he is quite persistent and annoying to them, and even a swat doesn’t deter him.
Mickey is fostered in Myakka City, FL, and his fee is $350. He's fully vetted and ready to go. No airplane trips for this guy, he must go home by way of riding.
