Pua is a beautiful 3-year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on December 21, 2024 after she picked up on Second Street in Lower Salem Ohio along with her two puppies (Maui and Moana). None of this adorable trio were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped.
This lovely girl has a brown short smooth coat with a narrow band of white on the back of her neck, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with soulful brown eyes, a liver-colored nose, and large semi-erect ears
Pua has a super sweet, easygoing personality.
These photos were taken on the afternoon of December 21st when Pua was relaxing in the front office shortly after her arrival. Pua was loving the attention which she received from everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Pua weighs 50.8 lbs.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Pua and her puppies will be held for 14 days since their owner has been identified .. And hopefully they will be reclaimed.
A Good Samaritan who was familiar with this little family provided their real names ... Pua's real name is Loretta. Maui's real name is Rex. Moana's real name is Angel.

The HSOV Adoption application is available at our shelter during normal hours of operation and may also be completed online via our website.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

Take the Pet Home
All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
