Hello there, my name is Ansel. I am a gorgeous girl kitty cat and the people at Desert Haven haven't tamed me yet. I was out in the wild, fending for myself and it wasn't fun, but I made do. I kept my body in great shape, I came around Desert Haven thinking I might ask for some help but then I wandered off for awhile. When they spotted me again the volunteers put out a live trap and I decided to go after that canned food it was oh so yummy smelling. I knew that was a trap but I was sick and tired of being out on my own in the desert. Danged if that ain't a tough life, y'all! I had a trip to the veterinarian and got spayed and all my vaccinations and a clean bill of health. I'm also negative for FIV/FELV. So, here I am, now a full fledged member of the Cool Cat Neighborhood and everyone is trying to help me feel comfortable. The other cats are very nice to me, Feather in particular. Man, that guy Feather is like the Welcome Wagon! He keeps coming over to me to say "Hello, you're safe now, friend" and I keep saying, "Keep your distance, good sir, this is all new to me!". And he does! Feather keeps his distance and he's just waiting until I relax more and get my bearings. Three squares, lots of cubbies to hide in, ledges to sun on, and as much water as I want to drink. There are Kitty Cuddlers too! They sit close to me and tell me how beautiful I am, that they are glad I'm safe in the Neighborhood, that I'm equal to everyone here. It feels good being saved. I am still uneasy about all this but everything is starting to feel a little more predictable and I must say now I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. And it just feels good. I got my first name: Ansel. I think it's pretty, like me. Love, Ansel
