My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gunnar (A135957) is a 9-month-old Hound who weighed nearly 60 pounds on intake!

12/27/24 Mister Gunnar is back at the shelter because he was not meshing well with the other animals in the home. Gunnar was said to chase and play rough with the cat. He also played rough with the other dog but got defensive around his food. Gunnar should go to a home without cats, and he would probably do best with calmer dogs as long as he is fed separately. Gunnar is still working on his manners, and he has some naughty habits to work on. He will get into things including food and even the litter box if left unattended. Gunnar has had a lot of upheaval in his short life, so he is looking for a patient owner dedicated to his training. He is very treat motivated, and care staff were easily able to give him a quick pedicure upon intake with positive reinforcement and lots of treats! Gunnar needs help learning that his kennel is a safe place to be, and he would do wonderfully in a basic obedience class to help him learn some manners. He has been known to get into things when left unsupervised, and he is possibly still working on being housebroken. If you are interested in this sweet young boy, please give us a call!

11/29/24 Gunnar, previously known as Cash, has been reluctantly brought back to the shelter after his previous owner fell on hard times and thought the best thing was to let Gunnar find a better home. Gunnar was said to do very well with children and other dogs. He can be shy around strangers, but warms up quick. Gunnar has never been around cats or other small animals so please keep this in mind if introducing him to any. Gunnar is still a young pup that needs some help with basic manners and kennel and potty training. He is looking for a patient home willing to show him the ropes! Enrolling him in a basic obedience class with a certified trainer would be a great place to start! He was described as a very energetic boy who LOVES car rides. He was said to love playing and hate kennels. There are a lot great resources out there to help your dog realize a kennel is a safe place rather than a jail cell, but this is also something that a certified trainer can help you with! If you are interested in meeting Mister Gunnar, please give the shelter a call!

09/24/24 This cute, talkative pup is Mister Cash! He ain’t nothing but a hound dog – howling all the time! Since Cash arrived at the shelter as a stray, we do not have any history on. He is a young dog who would benefit from attending a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on his manners. He seems outgoing and playful toward his doggy neighbors, but please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with any new potential friends. Cash has consistently had accidents inside his kennel so he will need some work with potty training and looking for a patient owner to continue working with him. If you are interested in meeting this fun-loving pup, please let us know!
