Meet Wilbur! At 2.5 years of age, this happy, bouncy boy has lots of energy to spare. Wilbur is looking for a forever home with a fully secured yard as he is a dog we would consider to be a flight risk. Additionally, Wilbur is incredibly dog social and we feel it would be of great benefit for him to have another dog or dogs in his forever home to take behavioural cues from and to help him with his energy and socialization. At this time, both of these criteria are must haves for his forever family.
Wilbur is currently sharing his foster home with a cat as well, and while he has shown no aggression, his playful and curious nature is best suited for a cat who is dog savvy. A nervous or skittish cat would likely not be a good fit with Wlibur.
Wilbur loves everyone, although he can be a little more standoffish with male energy and it may take him more time to feel confident around men when there is not also a female present. He would be a great family dog in a home with older kids who are respectful and well mannered with animals.
Wilbur is not crate trained and has been fine left on his own without restriction. He has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviours whatsoever. He does enjoy his walks and his Foster family finds that he does very well using a harness and he does enjoy his walks. As a higher energy dog, he does required regular exercise and adding yard play and playtime with another canine would be the ultimate trifecta for keeping him in balance!
Wilbur is not a fan of car rides. Short trips to the groomer or vet can be managed, but he would likely feel anxious and a little uncomfortable on long drives.
Wilbur shows no signs of guarding food, toys or treats, but he can be a little jealous and possessive over love and affection. There is no aggression in his game, but he can be a little pushy when he wants to steal his human`s attention! As a dog who loves nothing more than a good cuddle session, he really enjoys co-sleeping with his humans, but is also happy to give lots of space once everyone has settled in for the night.
Wilbur is definitely looking for a family who will meet his need for love, affection and cuddle time, and in return they will have a lifelong beloved companion who wants nothing more than to love and be loved!
