Meet Max, a senior dog with a heart full of love and a brain full of smarts. He knows the come, no, down, and kennel commands. If he wanders away while off leash, he`ll come back if you call him. His gentle, friendly demeanor makes him an instant favorite among those who meet him. Max`s curious nature keeps him young at heart, while his mellow temperament ensures he`s never too much to handle. He`s not terribly active but he does enjoy car rides, walks, and even being by himself. He`s house trained and leash trained, making him a breeze to care for. Though cautious, Max is easy going and calm, always ready to snuggle up for a good cuddle. He`ll never complain about being touched. He`s an affectionate soul who loves a good meal, maybe a bit too much! But don`t we all? He weighs 24 pounds and needs your help to slim down even though he will beg for food. Max is tolerant and cautious around other dogs but also easygoing and friendly. His gentleness shines through when he`s with children. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
